Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, Texas - In front of a sellout crowd of 11,897, the Frisco RoughRiders, playing as "Los Jinetes de Frisco" on Cinco de Mayo, were defeated by the San Antonio Missions 5-4 in the finale of a four-game series Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
BIG MOMENTS * Trailing 5-2 in the seventh, the Riders rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Isiah Kiner-Falefa's RBI single to right and Luke Tendler's sacrifice fly did the damage. * Frisco almost tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, but Matt Lipka was tagged out at home plate by Missions pitcher Brad Wieck trying to score on a ball that got away from catcher Stephen McGee. * San Antonio opened with a three-run first against Riders starter Yohander Mendez. Jose Cardona's RBI groundout in the bottom of the first inning cut the San Antonio lead to 3-1. Frisco added another run in the second on Scott Heineman's run-scoring single to make it 3-2. * The Missions added a pair of runs in the sixth and the seventh on Franmil Reyes' homer and Nick Schulz's run-scoring single. * Despite delivering a quality start, Frisco's Yohander Mendez suffered his second consecutive loss. The lefty allowed four runs (three earned) on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings.
