NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - The Frisco RoughRiders returned from the All-Star Break in style on Friday night with a 3-1, 11-inning win over the Arkansas Travelers from Dickey-Stephens Park. In the win, the Riders used seven pitchers, allowing just one run over 11 frames.
With the Riders (10-9, 46-42) trailing 1-0 into the eighth inning, Frisco mounted their comeback. Blaine Crim reached on a fielder's choice Kellen Strahm walked to put two aboard for Sandro Fabian, who double home Crim to tie the game at 1-1. It was the first extra-base hit for the Riders on the night.
After both teams went scoreless through the 10th, Justin Foscue put Frisco in front with a sacrifice fly in the 11th off of Arkansas (7-12, 43-45) reliever Travis Kuhn (1-3). Dustin Harris then added on with an RBI double, scoring Jonathan Ornelas, to extend the lead to 3-1.
Riders righty Fernery Ozuna (5-0) pitched a brilliant two innings, striking out four to earn the win while Tai Tiedemann induced a double play in the bottom of the 11th to end the game and take home his second save of the season.
In the game, Strahm reached twice on walks, extending his on-base streak to 33 games, still third-best in franchise history.
Jax Biggers collected three hits for the Riders to pace the offense and Foscue poured in a pair as well in the win.
Arkansas, which fell in their eighth-consecutive game on Friday, scored first in the second inning. Riders starter Zak Kent allowed the lone run of the game for the Travelers on an RBI single from Jake Anchia to make it 1-0.
The Riders and Travelers meet for game two of the three-game series on Saturday, July 22nd at 7:05 p.m. from Dickey-Stephens Park. RHP Tim Brennan (2-3, 3.65) starts for Frisco against RHP Stephen Kolek (4-8, 5.57).
