Riders Add To Coaching Staff

Saskatchewan Roughrider Head Coach Ken Miller announced today Jamie Barresi will join the team as their Running Backs Coach.

"We are extremely pleased that Coach Barresi has joined our staff," stated Riders head coach Ken Miller. "He brings a wealth of experience, wisdom, and creative insight to our team. Along with Paul LaPolice and Mike Gibson, I am very confident our offence will continue with the success we showed last year."

Barresi spent the past two seasons with the B.C. Lions where he coached receivers and running backs. He entered the CFL in 2004 where he served as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats offensive coordinator for two seasons.

Before entering the CFL coaching ranks, Barresi spent three seasons as the quarterbacks coach at the University of Central Florida. Prior to his three year stay at Central Florida, Barresi spent eight years as an assistant at Wake Forest. He served as the wide receivers coach in 1993 and 1994 before returning to that capacity in 2000. Barresi also coached the quarterbacks from 1995-1999 and served as the passing game coordinator from 1997-1999.

Barresi also served two stints at Penn State including the title of wide receivers coach from 1989-1992. Prior to that he coached the wide receivers at the University of Florida in 1986 and 1987.

He began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of Ottawa, where he played quarterback. He served as an assistant coach from 1981-1983, before working as a graduate assistant under legendary coach Joe Paterno at Penn State from 1984-1985.

Barresi earned his undergraduate degrees from Ottawa in Kinanthropology in 1980 and education in 1981. He earned his Master's degrees from Penn State and Florida in 1987. Barresi earned his doctorate in exercise and sports science from Penn State in 1993.
