Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce Henry Burris as the 2007 Presidents' Ring recipient. Burris is one of four quarterbacks in Stampeder history to receive the award, joining Jerry Keeling, Danny Barrett and Dave Dickenson.

Stampeder president Scott Ackles and Henry Burris will be available for comment at 3 p.m. today in the Stamps administration office at McMahon Stadium.

"It's an honour to be a part of such a prestigious list," said Burris. "I look at the names that have won this award and I can't believe that mine will be among them. Obviously, none of this would be possible without my team-mates. We did this together and I'm grateful that they selected me."

Burris was named Calgary's Most Outstanding Player nominee and had a career season in 2007. Despite missing two games with a dislocated left shoulder and being rested in the final regular-season game, Burris led the CFL with 34 touchdown passes and had a league-best 102.0 passer rating. His 4,279 passing yards ranked second in the league and only one quarterback exceeded his 623 rushing yards. He also equalled a career-high with five touchdown passes against Saskatchewan on Sept. 15 and repeated the feat against Winnipeg on Oct. 14. Burris had a streak of six 300-yard games and in 10 of his last 11 games he threw for more than 300 yards and multiple touchdowns. He was twice named CFL offensive player of the month (August and September).

"Henry is a consummate professional and a distinguished leader with this team," said offensive co-ordinator George Cortez. "He exudes leadership on and off the field and it was no surprise to me that his team-mates selected him."

The Calgary Stampeder Football Club will host the annual President's Luncheon, presented by Global Calgary on May 7, 2008 at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. For further information on this event visit www.Stampeders.com or call the Stampeder Ticket Office at 289-0258 to purchase tickets.
