Rider Girl Auditions On Tuesday

Rider Girl Dance Team auditions to be held Tuesday, November 24th

* Were you born to perform in front of a crowd?

* Do you love to dance?

* Are you energetic and a great leader?

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are looking for 8-10 energetic females to be a part of the 2009-2010 Rider Girl Dance Team. Last week, a captain was chosen for the team. Her name is Jenny Thielman, and she is the owner of the United We Cheer & Dance Studio in Cedar Rapids.

The Rider Girls Dance Captain, along with a panel of judges, will help select the Rider Girls at the open auditions to be held at United We Cheer & Dance Studio on Tuesday, November 24th. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and the auditions begin at 6 PM. United We Cheer is located at 2600 Edgewood Road SW in Cedar Rapids - on the 2nd floor of the Westdale Mall. A short routine will be taught to everyone - so you need not come to the tryouts with anything prepared.

The Rider Girls will help create an energetic atmosphere at all RoughRider home games - revving up the crowd, assisting in promotions, and enhancing the overall game experience. The Rider Girls will also promote the RoughRiders through various off-site promotions and special events. Specific responsibilities include:

* Attend all RoughRider home games at Happy hour (1 hour 15 min prior to game time) to greet fans as they enter into the stable and greet and meet with people in the arena.

* Perform dances during TV timeouts and intermissions

* Help shovel ice during TV timeouts

* Go to bars, special events and public venues handing out RoughRider promotional materials

* Help sell RoughRider apparel at games and off-site

* Shoot the Bimm Ridder Fun Gun during intermissions

* Rev up crowd during game time

* Help at occasional charity events such as golf outings, car washes, book readings at schools, etc.

Captain Jenny Thielman will develop choreography, and provide overall direction and management for the team. The team will practice one a week at the United We Cheer & Dance Studio. Dancers must be female, 21 years or older, and if selected, must reside in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. The following requirements are necessary:

* Outgoing personality

* Comfortable performing in front of a crowd

* Previous dance or cheer experience

* Availability at all RoughRiders home games

* Leadership abilities

* Ability to skate is a plus!
