
Richmond Acquired in Exchange for Carman

The National Hockey League's Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals completed an American Hockey League trade today. Colorado's AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, will receive defenseman Danny Richmond and send center Mike Carman to Washington's affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
Currently in his eighth year as a pro, Richmond appeared in 24 games with the Bears this season, recording four assists and 48 penalty minutes. The Chicago, Illinois native is a veteran of 457 games in the AHL (Lowell, Norfolk, Rockford, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Peoria, Toronto and Hershey), where he has registered 32 goals, 127 assists and 1,005 penalty minutes. Richmond has also appeared in 49 career games in the NHL (Carolina and Chicago), posting three assists and 75 penalty minutes.
Carman was in his second year with the Monsters after a four-year career at the University of Minnesota. He recorded three goals and three assists through 28 games so far this season with Lake Erie. In his rookie season of 2010-11, Carman posted nine goals and eight assists in 69 games. He also appeared in 10 games (two goals) with the Monsters at the end of his senior year at UM (2010).
