Brockton Rox News Release

WORCESTER, MA - RF Joe Hough hit his first professional home run in the eighth inning and 1B Francisco Lebron drove home the go-ahead run with a double later in the frame to give Brockton a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Worcester Tornadoes before 2,013 at Hanover Insurance Park. RHP John Boker took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before allowing a single to LF Josh Beauregard and a two-run HR to Chris Colabello, but the Rox rally allowed Boker to earn his team-leading fifth win of the season. The Rox have won two of the first three games of a four-game series and have been victorious of six of their last seven overall.

Boker retired the first 13 hitters in the game before hitting RF Keith Beauregard with a 1-2 pitch in the fifth inning. The Rox did little in the first frames against Worcester starter RHP Matt Weagle, who pitched seven shutout innings for the Tornadoes. Josh Beauregard's single broke up the no-hit bit in the seventh, and Colabello knocked a two-run shot to left just three pitches later putting Worcester in front 2-0.

2B Mike Torres led off the eighth inning against RHP Jamie Merchant of Worcester with a single. Hough, who had just eight at-bats in 2006 prior to the eighth inning, hit a 1-1 fastball over the left field wall to tie the game. After singles by CF Brad Rosenblat and SS Mike Scanzano, Lebron smoked a double to center field, giving the Rox a 3-2 lead. Despite loading the bases with one out in the eighth, the Rox did not score again. RHP Kyle George came out of the bullpen and retired the side in order in the eighth, and fanned two in the ninth and pitched a perfect frame for his first save. Tomorrow the Rox send LHP Rolando Viera (3-3, 2.48 ERA) to the hill to face Worcester RHP Reid Willett (2-2, 5.08 ERA) at 7:05 PM.
