Reynolds Scores Lone Goal in Loss to Isles
October 23, 2020 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
Peter Reynolds had the lone Saint John (1-2-1-1) goal in a 5-1 loss to the Charlottetown Islanders (5-1-0-0) on Friday night at the Eastlink Centre.
Noah Patenaude made his third start in goal for the Sea Dogs while Colten Ellis put his perfect 4-0 start on the line in net for the Islanders. Brady Burns, Benjamin Roode and Hunter Gartley were the scratches for Saint John.
A sluggish first two periods saw the Sea Dogs badly outshot 21-11 through 40 minutes. The Islanders held a 4-0 stranglehold heading into the third period on goals from Keiran Gallant, Drew Elliott, Ryan Maynard and a shorthanded goal from Cédric Desruisseaux. Desruisseaux currently leads the QMJHL in points (12) and goals (8).
The Sea Dogs looked to be turning it around in the third period as they came out with some jump in their step. They controlled the first ten minutes of the period and got on the board when Nathan Drapeau ripped a shot wide and Peter Reynolds was able to one-timer home the rebound for his second of the year. Drapeau's assist was his first point in the QMJHL.
Saint John outshot the Islanders 10-1 to start the final frame, but the Islanders stabilized and added a power play goal to make it 5-1. The Sea Dogs had seven opportunities of their own on the power play but couldn't produce offensively.
Patenaude finished with 30 saves.
