Inland Empire 66ers News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA - The gap between the Inland Empire 66ers (16-13) and first place in the California League South is just half a game after a 6-2 victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm (8-20) Saturday night.
Danny Reynolds had his second quality start of the season earning him his third win of the year, and Michael Snyder had a team best three RBI.
Inland Empire handed their starting pitcher a lead before he even got on the mound Saturday with two runs in the top of the 1st inning. Brian Hernandez 100th hit of his 66ers career drove in the game's first run, and Michael Snyder followed him with an RBI double to make it 2-0 Inland Empire. A third run off a two out RBI single by Joel Capote in the 2nd gave the 66ers all the lead they would need.
Danny Reynolds was near perfect his first five innings in Lake Elsinore. He carried a no hitter into the 4th with three strikeouts in his first three innings, including the 100th of his career. The 66ers blew the game open in the 5th frame with three runs including two off another Michael Snyder two out double, this time scoring a pair of runs to make it 6-0. Reynolds would finish the night with a quality start, allowing two runs in six innings, and the bullpen completed three shutout innings to record the victory.
The Inland Empire 66ers continue the road trip Sunday at Lake Elsinore with a 2:05 PM matchup against the Storm. The game can be heard on the 66ers flagship station AM 1050 KCAA.
