Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
San Jose, CA - Ross Stripling kept the Quakes' momentum going on Sunday afternoon, firing a season-best eight innings in Rancho's 4-1 victory over the San Jose Giants at Municipal Stadium.
Stripling (2-0) allowed just three hits, striking out six, without issuing a walk, helping the Quakes secure their season-high fourth straight win, all on the road.
Casio Grider had a big day for the Quakes, with three hits and two RBIs. His first-inning single helped get the Quakes on the board early, as he led off the game with a single and eventually scored on a Darnell Sweeney hit, making it 1-0 against Giants' starter Austin Fleet (2-1).
The Quakes picked up two in the fifth, as Grider tripled home a pair, his second triple of the game, making it 3-0.
Stipling made his lone mistake in the bottom of the inning, as his streak of nine straight retired batters was broken up by Angel Villalona, who homered to open the inning, making it 3-1. After giving up the long-ball, Stripling went on to retire the next 12 to finish his day.
O'Koyea Dickson got that run back in the sixth, as he led off with his fourth round-tripper of the year, capping the scoring at 4-1.
Owen Jones pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save as a Quake.
Rancho (16-14) remains just 1 Ãâý games back of first-place Lancaster in the South Division and will look for a four-game sweep on Monday night in San Jose. Jarret Martin (0-5) looks for his first win of the year, taking on San Jose's Clayton Blackburn (2-0) at 7:00pm.
After the completion of this seven-game road trip, the Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, May 7th, as they host the Inland Empire 66ers for a brief three-game series. Tuesday night is another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can score a free Club Seat Ticket by bringing ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans to the ballpark. Game time is 7:05pm and gates open at 6:05pm. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
