York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution struggled to solve Bridgeport lefty Hunter Jones, as the Bluefish grabbed a 4-1 win in Friday's series opener in front of 3,943 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The Revs will look to rebound on Saturday, with just three games remaining on the home schedule for the 2013 season.

Bridgeport scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the third on a two-out single by Luis Lopez that landed just in front of Ruddy Yan's lunging attempt in center field.

The Revs couldn't crack Jones until the sixth inning, when Yan snapped a streak of 14 consecutive hitters retired with a bunt single. Chad Tracy later ripped an RBI single to left-center plating Yan with two outs to bring the Revs within 2-1, but Jones escaped with a strikeout to leave the bases loaded.

Jones ran into bases-loaded trouble again in the seventh after a pair of two-out walks, but reliever Joe Bateman entered to record a groundout as the Revs left the bases full in back-to-back innings.

Bridgeport tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth on an RBI single to left by Juan Martinez (3-for-4) and a sac fly from Lopez who drove in three of Bridgeport's four runs on the night.

Jones (8-12) earned the win, allowing just one run in 6.2 innings.

Revs starter Anthony Claggett (0-1) suffered the loss in his York debut, despite allowing only two unearned runs in six innings of work.

Winston Abreu finished a perfect night for Bridgeport's bullpen with his ninth save.

The Revs will send Will Savage (9-11, 4.53) to the mound on Saturday against Bridgeport lefty Cole McCurry (0-2, 6.20) with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. It is High School Spirit Night presented by OSS Health, and features Postgame Fireworks presented by AAA of Southern Pennsylvania. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
