Revs Held In Check As Sharks Even Series

A night after erupting for 18 hits, the York Revolution offense was held in check in a 5-2 loss to the Camden Riversharks on Wednesday evening at Campbell's Field. York, now 4-2 on its current road trip, will go for the series win on Thursday night before returning home this weekend. The Revs' magic number in the Wild Card race remains five.

York took the initial lead in the fourth inning when Chris Nowak crushed a home run to left field, his league-leading and Revs record 32nd of the season. Travis Scott later added an RBI single to right-center, making it a 2-0 lead.

Camden came back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to go in front. Steve Doetsch belted a game-tying two-run homer to left, before Brian Burgamy drove a two-out RBI double to left-center and scored on a Pedro Feliz single up the middle.

The Sharks scored once more in the seventh when Doetsch stole third and scored on a throwing error, providing the final margin.

Camden starter Steve Fox (1-0) allowed just three hits and two runs (one earned) in six innings to earn the win in his Atlantic League debut. Fox worked out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning, retiring eight consecutive batters before Nowak's homer, and also set down each of the final seven that he faced.

York brought the tying run to the plate in each of the final three innings against Camden's bullpen, but stranded a combined five runners in those three innings, and ten runners for the game, totaling only six hits. Leo Rosales capped the effort by Camden's bullpen, working the ninth inning for his fifth save.

York starter Chris Waters (5-7) took a shutout into the fifth but suffered the loss, as all four runs against him scored in the fifth.

The Revs will turn to Chris Cody (10-13, 4.30) in the series finale on Thursday against Camden's Bryan Corey (8-10, 6.15) with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.

Notes: Nowak has homered in six of the last eight games, totaling seven long balls on that stretch. He has hit 21 homers since the All-Star break, breaking his own club record for home runs in a half. The RBI was his league-leading 97th of the season, now within eight of matching York's single-season record.
