York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution lost a rain-shortened game to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, 3-1 at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, MD on Tuesday evening. The game was called in the top of the seventh inning, as severe storms moved into the area. The Revs, whose three-game winning streak was snapped, will look to even the series and start a new winning streak on Wednesday night.
The Blue Crabs scored all three runs in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double by Richard Mercado on a grounder up the first base line, followed by a two-run double into the right field corner from Mike Daniel.
Revs starter Chris Cody (0-4) did not allow another run in his final three innings of work, surrendering only one additional hit, but took the loss. Reliever Omar Javier fired two scoreless frames for the Revs.
James Shanks roped an RBI double in the top of the second for what turned out to be York's lone run. Blue Crabs starter Ben Moore (2-1) retired 10 consecutive batters after the double, and allowed just the one run on three hits in his six innings.
The game was called with one out in the top of the seventh.
Notes: Southern Maryland snapped a four-game losing streak. The Revs have dropped seven consecutive road games, falling to 1-7 away from home compared to a 5-4 record at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Michael Hernandez (0-for-3) lost an 11-game hitting streak, while Andres Perez (0-for-3) lost a ten-gamer. Ramon Castro (1-for-3) has now hit safely in six consecutive games. The RBI for Shanks was his eighth in the last nine games. The Revs fall to 1-12 all-time in series openers in Waldorf. It was only the fifth rain-shortened game in club history and first since 2009. York's Yunior Novoa (0-1, 6.08) will oppose Southern Maryland's Nick Green (1-1, 3.57) in Wednesday's game at 7:05 p.m. Fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
