York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.): The York Revolution has made fundraising for groups risk-free and easier than ever before, launching new fundraising programs during a meeting with local non-profits. The Revolution helped raise $236,000 for groups in 2008, and with new programs this year, the organization believes that number will grow quickly.
"We've just had more requests for help this year," said Revolution General Manager Matt O'Brien. "When you give folks a chance to raise money through family entertainment, that's something everyone can cheer about."
The new programs include a "No-Money-Down" ticket selling program, and a brand-new volunteer program. The programs are designed to accommodate groups of all types and sizes, from church groups and large foundations, to small athletic teams and district athletic councils. The York Cancer Center Patient Help Fund and the Audubon Society are among the first groups to sign up for "Fundraising with the Revolution" in the 2009 season.
"We revamped the fundraising system to make it easier," said Revolution Group Fundraising Manager Michelle Gemmill. "It's fun to watch the surprise on someone's face when you explain there's no money up front, no handling of tickets and no risk."
The new ticket program is a web-based system that enables the club to track how many tickets have been purchased on behalf of a select non-profit group. Each ticket purchased using the group's "fundraising code" will generate between $4 and $4.50 for the organization.
Selling your fundraising tickets is an easy four-step process:
Go to www.YorkRevolution.com and click the fundraising code access button on the right.
Enter your personalized fundraising code.
Click "Buy".
Select your seats and complete your order!
Once a group has sold 100 tickets, $4 of each sale will go to the non-profit. When the group reaches 500 tickets sold, $4.50 of each ticket sale-almost half the value of a regular Revolution field box ticket-will go to support the organization. For example, if a group sells just 250 tickets, it will raise $1,000 for their organization. A group that can sell 1,000 game tickets will raise $4,500, all without any money down.
In addition, the York Revolution will supply the materials you need to market your fundraising tickets, including posters, business cards and e-mail flyers. The Revolution will also periodically contact group leaders to update the status of money raised, and where your group stands on the "leader board." All groups using the fundraising portal will be in a contest against each other for ballpark prizes, such as first pitches.
Along with fundraising through single-game tickets, the Revolution also launched a program which raises money by having your group work in the Weis DownTown Playground at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Groups can earn up to $1,400 with this option.
These new programs join other successful programs from the first two seasons. The team will again share concessions proceeds with non-profit groups who volunteer to work in the concessions stands. Openings for the popular program, which helps raise nearly $100,000 every year, typically fill up by January, and have already been filled for 2009.
To select a game and set up a fundraising code, groups can call 801-4487 and ask for any Revolution Group Events Coordinator. The programs will apply for any home game in 2009, based on availability.
Season tickets and mini-plans for the 2009 season are now on sale. Opening Day is May 1 against the Lancaster Barnstormers.
