Championship Hero Travis Anderson Re-Signed

The Somerset Patriots have announced the re-signing of catcher Travis Anderson.

Anderson hit the game-winning walk off home run in Game Four of the 2008 Atlantic League Championship that clinched the series for the Patriots over the Camden Riversharks 3-1.

Anderson finished the 2008 season with a .288 batting average, 31 runs scored, 69 hits, 12 doubles, three triples, four home runs, and 20 RBI in 79 games played.

"Travis will always be a part of Patriots history for the tremendous way he ended the 2008 season for us. The walk off home run was a moment that the team and fans will remember for years to come and we look forward to celebrating the championship during the upcoming season with Travis as part of our team," said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Anderson hit .295 with 74 hits, 15 doubles, ten home runs, and 45 RBI in 87 games with Somerset in 2007. He played in 108 games for the Patriots during the 2006 season and finished with a .248 batting average, 84 hits, 18 doubles, and 34 RBI.

Before joining the Patriots, Anderson spent three seasons with the Riversharks where he had a .309 batting average with 159 hits, 33 doubles, and 65 RBI in 173 games during his Camden career.

He has two years of experience in the Braves organization and is a career .282 hitter with 450 hits, 93 doubles, and 193 RBI in 524 minor league games.

Anderson is a Flemington resident, who spends the off-season teaching baseball instruction at the Jack Cust Baseball Academy.
