York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution beat the Bridgeport Bluefish 15-2 Saturday night in front of 4,629 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium to make it their seventh consecutive victory. The offense was explosive with every York starter getting a hit and making it a season high sixth straight night they have reached double digits in hits. The Revolution are currently 8-1 on their 11-game homestand with two games remaining.

The Revolution's offense has been on fire recently and it continued early in this game. In the first inning after RF Val Majewski drew a walk to get on base, 2B Ramon Castro knocked his first home run of the season giving York an early two run lead.

York tacked on three more in the third inning led by numerous extra base hits. CF Scott Grimes led off the inning with a double and scored on a triple by Majewski. Majewski then crossed the plate himself when Castro slapped a double to give him his third RBI of the game. 3B Vince Harrison continued the stream of extra base hits as he hit a double to bring in Castro giving York a 5-0 lead.

The Revolution continued the offensive onslaught in the fourth as C Salvador Paniagua crushed a two run home run plating SS Eric Eymann who singled to get on base in the previous at bat.

The York Revolution's offense scored runs in the fifth for the third consecutive inning. With the bases loaded 1B Chris Nowak grounded out to score Herrera. Eymann than cleared the bases hitting a single to the wall making it a 10-run game.

Bridgeport finally got on the board in the sixth inning when 3B Luis Lopez smacked a two run home run to cut their deficit to eight runs.

York would then answer in the bottom half with a monstrous inning that started off when Majewski scored on a groundout from Herrera. A few batters later with the bases loaded, Nowak singled in a run giving him his second RBI of the game. Bluefish LHP Luis Ramos then walked Eymann to force in a run and increase the lead even more for the Revolution. RHP Will Cunnane replaced Ramos but walked the first batter, Paniagua, to make it back to back run-scoring walks for York. Grimes drove in the last run of the inning on a single giving York their season high in runs scored with 15.

Revolution starter Corey Thurman picked up the win (6-2) pitching six strong innings. While only giving up two earned runs this start, Thurman has now given up three earned runs or less in 10 of his 11 starts this season. York has won each of his last six starts with Thurman winning his fifth consecutive decision.
