York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution celebrated Mother's Day with their first sweep of the season, finishing off Sunday's series finale with a 4-1 victory over the Somerset Patriots in front of 3,107 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The Revs, winners of three straight overall and four consecutive games at home, move within 2.5 games of the Patriots for second place and stay within 3.5 games of Lancaster for first in the Freedom Division.
Travis Scott provided all of the offense that York would need with a three-run homer to left-center in the bottom of the third, cashing in after Ramon Castro and Danny Gonzalez had led off with singles.
Castro drove in York's other run with a two-out single an inning later, spotting the Revs a 4-0 lead. The base hit plated Andres Perez who singled and stole second earlier in the inning.
Revs starter Ryan Feierabend (2-1) made those runs stand up with 6.2 outstanding innings of work, charged with just one run and exiting with the shutout still intact. It was the longest outing of the season by a Revs starter, and Feierabend has now allowed just two runs combined in 17.2 innings over his last three starts.
Yusuf Carter broke up the shutout with a two-out RBI single in the seventh, but that was all of the offense that Somerset could manage, mustering just six hits in the game.
Adam Thomas recorded a perfect six-out save, his first of the year, inducing five groundouts and one strikeout, and throwing 13 of his 17 pitches for strikes.
Patriots starter Justin Cassel (0-2) took the loss, allowing all four York runs over six innings. He did strike out seven while walking none.
Notes: Michael Hernandez extended his hitting streak to 11 consecutive games with a single in his final at-bat. Perez (1-for-4) now owns a 10-game streak, and Castro (2-for-3) has hit safely in five consecutive games, notching his first multi-hit game of the year. The sweep was the first for the Revs in a three-game series against Somerset since July, 2009. The one run allowed is a season-low for the York pitching staff. After Monday's off-day, the Revs begin a stretch of 21 games in 20 days with the first of a six-game road trip to Southern Maryland and Lancaster. Tuesday's game at Southern Maryland is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with Chris Cody facing Ben Moore in the series opener. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
