York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution saw their six-game winning streak come to a close as they were denied a sweep in Southern Maryland, falling to the Blue Crabs 14-7 on Mother's Day afternoon at Regency Furniture Stadium. The Revs (11-7) are tied for first place in the Freedom Division through 18 games, and return home to open a six-game homestand on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park when they host the New Britain Bees at 6:30 p.m.

For the second time in as many days and for the second time in three games, Jason Repko lifted the lid on the proceedings with a game-opening leadoff home run to left field, spotting the Revs a 1-0 lead one batter into the contest.

Southern Maryland answered in its half of the first, scoring the equalizer just two batters in as Steve Lombardozzi led off with a single to right, advanced on an errant pickoff attempt, and scored on a ground single to right by Eric Garcia, tying the score at 1-1.

The Blue Crabs took the lead for good in the bottom of the third, as Michael Snyder kept the inning alive with a two-out walk, and Fred Lewis cashed in with a two-run homer to right, his fourth of the year, giving Southern Maryland a 3-1 lead.

Southern Maryland added an unearned run in the fourth when Gary Brown reached on a dropped fly ball in left field and scored on Lombardozzi's sac fly to center.

The Revs made a run at a comeback in the sixth inning. Josh Wilson slapped a one-out single up the middle and scored as Andres Perez followed with an RBI triple that one-hopped the wall in left-center. Telvin Nash drew a walk to end the afternoon of Crabs starter Shaun Garceau, while Joel Guzman greeted reliever Jeff Urlaub with a sac fly to center, bringing York within 4-3.

The Blue Crabs responded with a haymaker, batting around for their first of two five-run innings to put the game out of reach. Jamar Walton started things with a homer to right-center. Angel Flores reached on an infield single and Gary Brown drew a walk, with both scoring on Lombardozzi's triple down the right field line. A wild pitch from reliever Daniel Carela brought Lombardozzi home with another run as the first four batters all reached and scored before an out was recorded. Lewis would later add a two-out RBI single to left, as the Crabs built a 9-3 lead.

Bryan Pounds and Keith Castillo slammed back-to-back homers to left in the top of the seventh, each connecting on their first home runs of the season, drawing York within 9-5.

The Blue Crabs enjoyed another five-run outburst in the eighth. Lombardozzi worked a leadoff walk, stole second and took third on an errant pickoff move. Garcia was then hit by a pitch, prompting benches to clear with no further incident. Reliever Eric Thomas then retired Zach Wilson on a pop up, and after a stolen base by Garcia, intentionally walked cleanup man Michael Snyder to load the bases before striking out Lewis looking on three pitches. The Crabs rallied with two outs, however, as Bryant Nelson took a bases loaded walk, Walton singled to right to plate two more, Flores stroked an RBI single to left, and Brown blooped another run home on a single to shallow right.

The Revs closed the scoring in the ninth plating two runs. Isaias Tejeda smacked a one-out single up the middle and Repko drilled a double into the left field corner. Wilson grounded to short to plate Tejeda, and Repko came home on a wild pitch to provide the final margin.

Garceau (1-1) picked up the win, allowing three runs in 5.1 innings. The righty improved to 4-1 lifetime against the Revolution, his first Atlantic League team (2011-12).

York starter Micah Owings (0-1) suffered the loss, charged with three runs in three innings in his second start.

Repko and Tejeda each posted three-hit games to lead York's 12-hit attack, which featured a season-high-tying six extra-base hits.

Lewis and Flores each collected three hits for Southern Maryland, while Lombardozzi, Lewis, and Walton all had three-RBI games.

Notes: The Revs lost to the Blue Crabs 14-7 after losing at home to Southern Maryland 14-5 on Mother's Day, 2015. York had gone without a first inning leadoff home run since late in the 2014 season (Justin Greene) before Repko's two game-opening blasts the last two days. The Revs allowed season-highs of 14 runs, 14 hits, 13 RBI, and 24 total bases. The seven-run loss marks their largest defeat on the young season. The six-game winning streak was the team's longest since a six-gamer, June 27-July 2, 2014. The back-to-back homers by Pounds and Castillo marked the Revs' second back-to-back homers of the season, both in the last six games. York leads the league with 20 home runs, accounted for by nine different players. The Revs have hit 18 home runs in their last 11 games and 17 in the last nine contests. Sunday marked the Revs' third game of three home runs or more this season, all in the last nine games. The three-hit game for Tejeda was his second in his last three contests, as he is now 7-for-12 at the plate over his last three games. The Revs committed a season-high-tying three errors including two on pickoff throws. York lefty Kelvin De La Cruz (2-1, 2.25) will get the start in Tuesday's opener against New Britain. The night includes Baseball Bingo presented by Colonial Manor and The Brunswick at Longstown. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
