York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa): It's often said the hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball (or softball). Well, for young aspiring players in the York area, it just got easier. The Revolution are pleased to offer a private hitting lesson with lead instruction from outfielder Jason Aspito, and assistance from Revs infielder Matt Dryer.
The clinic will begin on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 25, and last through Sunday, April 13. Boys and girls ages 7 and up are welcome to register for a 30 minute session with Aspito and Dryer for the price of 45 dollars. The schedule is as follows:
March 25 - March 28: 3 - 7 p.m.
March 29 - March 30: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
March 31 - April 4: 3 - 7 p.m.
April 5: 1 - 7 p.m.
April 6: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
April 7 - April 11: 3 - 7 p.m.
April 12 - April 13: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Half-hour appointments during these hours will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. To reserve your time, call the Revolution at 717-801-HITS, or stop by the front lobby at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Payment is requested in cash, and can be paid in person at the stadium, or to Jason Aspito upon arrival for your personal session. There is no deadline to sign up; spots will be filled as long as they are available.
Lessons will be held in the indoor batting cages at Sovereign Bank Stadium, rain or shine. Players only need to bring their own bat. Other necessary equipment will be provided by the Revolution.
Last season with York, Jason Aspito appeared in 54 games hitting .307 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI, after beginning the season with the Edmonton Cracker-Cats of the Northern League. The Chicago native was selected by the White Sox in the 2000 amateur draft, and has also played in the Los Angeles Angels organization. Entering his ninth professional season, Aspito played collegiately at Loyola Marymount University in Illinois.
Matt Dryer belted 17 homers and drove in 69 runs in just 89 games for the Revolution a season ago. A native of Rochester, NY, Dryer was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 2002 amateur draft. He's also played in the St. Louis Cardinals organization as well as for the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League. Entering his seventh professional season, Dryer played for the powerhouse University of Miami Hurricanes in his college days, and was a part of their 2001 National Championship.
Season tickets and mini-plans for the 2008 season are now on sale. Opening Day is April 29 against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Fan Fest is also Saturday, April 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Sovereign Bank Stadium.
