May 20, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New England Revolution News Release
CINCINNATI - The New England Revolution (3-5-3; 12 pts.) will visit FC Cincinnati (6-5-1; 19 pts.) on Saturday night at TQL Stadium. Saturday's match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action on WSBK-TV38, myRITV, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
New England battled Atlanta United FC to a 2-2 draw at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in its most recent match on Sunday, behind forward Adam Buksa's fourth MLS brace. Buksa, who has logged consecutive multi-goal performances including last Wednesday's 5-1 victory over FC Cincinnati in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32, owns a league-best streak of five consecutive games with a goal scored, and six straight games in all competitions. With a goal on Saturday, Buksa will match Wolde Harris' club record of seven straight games with a goal, set in 2000. Buksa's six goals in league play this season are tied for fifth-most in MLS. At the end of the month, the 25-year-old will rejoin the Poland National Team ahead of its 2022-23 UEFA Nations League campaign, which begins with a four-game slate on June 1.
Midfielders Carles Gil and Sebastian Lletget distributed their 40th and 30th MLS assists, respectively, in Sunday's draw. Lletget has an assist in back-to-back games, while Gil registered an assist for the fourth straight league game and fifth straight match overall. The two-time MLS Best XI selection has six assists on the year, one behind the MLS lead. With another assist on Saturday, Gil will equal his own club record of five consecutive MLS games with a helper, also achieved by Steve Ralston in 2002.
The Revolution have beaten Cincinnati in each of the last three of their four MLS meetings and in four consecutive games overall, including the U.S. Open Cup tilt on May 11. New England's defense has allowed just one goal in the last three encounters with FC Cincinnati, including clean sheets in both previous trips to Cincinnati. Goalkeeper Matt Turner, 1-0-2 through his first three starts this season, carries a perfect 3-0-0 career record against Cincinnati.
Cincinnati logged a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire last Saturday, behind Luciano Acosta's game-winning strike in the 85th minute. The Orange and Blue currently sit at fourth place in the Eastern Conference, one point shy of the conference lead. Cincinnati owns a 2-3-0 home record this season, while New England - the league's best away team since the start of 2020 (18 road wins) - remains in search of its first away win victory the season.
