Revolution look for revenge against Real Salt Lake

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution enters the week's Major League soccer schedule as just the second team with the ability to secure a spot in the 2008 MLS Cup Playoffs, but the Revs will have to defeat Saturday's opponent - Real Salt Lake - and wait for the outcomes of two other games before they can official increase their streak of consecutive playoff appearances to seven.

The Revs will host Real (ray-ALL) Salt Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Gillette Stadium. TV38 (and Cox 3 in Rhode Island) will televise the game live, while radio listeners can tune into the WEEI Radio Network for the call.

A Revolution (12-8-6, 42 pts.) victory on Saturday against RSL, coupled with a New York Red Bulls loss to Toronto FC and either a D.C. United draw or loss against Chivas USA on Saturday, will earn New England its seventh-consecutive berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs. The Revs would become only the second team in MLS to qualify for the postseason, following the league-leading Columbus Crew, which punched its ticket to the postseason on Sept. 20. No other team can qualify for the playoffs this weekend.

Saturday's match is the second between the two clubs this season, with RSL (9-10-7, 34 pts.) taking the first, 2-1, on June 21 in Salt Lake City. Real Salt Lake came back from a one-goal deficit to earn the victory, a result that snapped the Revolution's season-best seven-game undefeated streak at the time.
