POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution II 3, Chicago Fire FC II 4

New England Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay

On his overall assessment of the game:

Peay: "it wasn't our best game. I thought we had too many guys who had off days and Chicago was good on the day. I thought they moved the ball well and defended collectively, made it difficult for us and at the end of the day we got outplayed."

On the team's ability to fight back in the first half:

Peay: "I think that the first half we knew that Chicago was a team that has conceded goals, so even if we went down a goal, we felt confident that we would have chances and we did. I think the goal at the start of the second half was a little bit of a dagger blow to the group. After fighting to get back in it, it made it difficult. I think the way Chicago kept the ball on a hot day with limited subs for us made it difficult for us to really press with the conviction that we'd like to see normally. We kind of lost that fight to be honest with you."

New England Revolution II Defender Pierre Cayet

On scoring his first goal of the season:

Cayet: "Well, it was much needed. I feel like that was a long-awaited goal for me. I've had a couple of chances in the beginning of the season to score headers and I think we've been getting better at set pieces so that was really important for me to help the team in that way today and it was my first goal so that was a plus."

On the team's performance:

Cayet: "Well, I think we fought back, but I think today Chicago showed that they wanted it more than us. I think technically we showed poor execution and I thought our first half wasn't good enough for us to be able to win this game, but obviously we want to fight, we want to compete every game so that's a plus but at the end of the day, we need goals, and we can't allow teams to score four times against us."

On how the team will move forward:

Cayet: "Well it's always a good opportunity to rebound and to be able to find what's missing, find what's wrong and be able to grow from it so I think we're at a point right now in the middle of the season where we've been lacking a bit of energy maybe and confidence in finding the opportunity to score more goals, so I think we're going to talk this week and try to figure out what's wrong and hopefully move on for next week and try to finish the season out strong."
