POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution II 3, Huntsville FC 0

Revolution II Assistant Coach Marcelo Santos

On the team's overall performance:

Santos: "I'm pretty happy with the performance and how the guys came together and started the game and dealt with the red card, continuing with the plan through the end. [We] made some substitutions and the guys came in and kept the game going, so very happy for them."

On the message at halftime being up a man and how the team felt:

Santos: "At times you think the game is going to be easier, and then the team the man down gets more and more energy off each other, and one situation is all they need. I asked them at halftime to stay concentrated and not change anything and if we could be more aggressive. Playing a man down, it's more difficult to find each other and I think that's what they [Huntsville City FC] did in the second half. They found moments to put pressure on the ball. They were looking to play more direct, but without the two forwards they had in the first half, it was a little different than the guys expected."

On goalkeeper Max Weinstein's performance:

Santos: "It's always good for the goalkeepers to get a shutout, that gives confidence. In the first half there was times you could see that he [Max Weinstein] wasn't as comfortable playing how we do. We just kept telling him to keep trying and at times he decided to do something else, so we just let it go. He's not comfortable, so let him feel the game and I think as the game went on, he felt more confident and came up with a big save in the end."

On the team's third straight clean sheet:

Santos: "I think if you look back on the season, it's been gradually progressing. I give Pierre [Cayet], Victor [Souza] and in particular the guys that have played the most minutes a lot of credit. Tiago [Suarez] was really good today, Colby [Quinones] was really good. I think the chemistry becomes much better when you play a lot of games together. They start to understand what each other likes and when they need more support."

On the final two games of the season:

Santos: "Of course there's still a lot to play for. I think for our group, they want to be first. I know it's a long shot, but I think it's going to be really hard when you get to the playoffs so if we're able to finish first or second, it's something that you can grab and feel proud of in the season. I think we're going to go all the way. If we cannot get there because Crown Legacy did their job, let's finish as high as possible because a home game here is massive. That's a goal for us in the next few games."

Revolution II Goalkeeper Max Weinstein:

On the team's overall performance:

Weinstein: "The team played really well, and I feel like defensively we all played as a unit and were in the same shape. I think that's what allowed us to ultimately win, get three points, and keep a clean sheet. This was a tough physical game against a group that is a little bit older than us. I think we did a good job staying together, especially with the guys in the back like Pierre [Cayet] and Victor [Souza], they're our leaders and did a good job leading us. I think that gave me the confidence and I'm sure the rest of the guys the as well, to just keep going and do our thing."

On staying together as a team in physical games:

Weinstein: "That's a tough game to play in, against a team that's a little bit older. There's a lot going against us the whole game, and we did a really good job keeping our heads, which is something we've been working on for a long time. Keeping our heads and then staying in the moment, going play by play and not really letting plays in the past affect us."

On being patient and waiting for his opportunity:

Weinstein: "These past couple of months at first were really hard for me. It still is a little hard for me, but I understand the position I am in, and I'm actually in a great spot. It's a lot of learning right now. I'm trying to learn everything I can and put in all the work I can right now. [I want to] learn as much as I can and be a sponge right now. Obviously, I'm upstairs [training with the first team], training with guys who are a little more experience and a little older. I'm very young so being able to see how those guys go about their day and how they train, and just learning the little things has really helped me. I love to play, and games are why I play so it's been hard. It's been a big challenge for me, but I think I've learned that in the moment it's hard, but at the end of it, in a couple of years from now, I'm really going to appreciate and understand it. The mentality that I'm still building is going to take me far into my career. I know that there's a plan and I think everything's been great. It's really helped my mentality a lot. It's still growing and there's still a lot to learn."

On earning his first MLS NEXT Pro shutout of the season:

Weinstein: "It feels great. I've been working a lot and it's really good to put everything I've been doing in training finally into a game. I did it down in Dallas [at the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs] with the U-19s. I still think from Dallas to now there's so much of an improvement in my game. Maybe you don't notice it, but for me I feel so much more confident in my positioning, my feet and everything are a lot better. Obviously more things will come with the game, and I still am going to learn more and more from playing games. It just feels great to be able to get a clean sheet after not playing for a couple weeks."

On if he's bringing in donuts to training following the shutout victory:

Weinstein: "Sunday, if you come by, there will be some donuts."
