New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (13-5-7; 46 pts. - 2nd in East.)will host Austin FC (9-12-5; 32 pts. - 10th in West.) on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium in the first encounter between the two clubs. Saturday's match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish. The match also airs locally on the radio via 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies on the call, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese.

New England remains unbeaten in MLS play at Gillette Stadium this season, improving to 10-0-3 at home following Wednesday's 1-0 shutout win over the New York Red Bulls. The Revolution have not lost in the last 14 regular season home games. Forward Giacomo Vrioni netted the game-winning goal in the 30th minute, his team-high fourth winner of the year, on midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye's first assist in a Revolution uniform. Vrioni now owns six goals scored this MLS season, one behind midfielder Carles Gil and forward Bobby Wood for the team lead, while his nine tallies in all competitions pace the team. Alongside Vrioni in the attack, summer acquisition Tomás Chancalay made his first MLS start and Gillette Stadium debut in Wednesday's victory, while midfielder Nacho Gil made his first start of the 2023 league campaign.

Goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. made two saves in his first shutout performance of the season, the team's eighth. With Wednesday's victory, Edwards Jr. improved his 2023 record to 2-1-0 with only two goals conceded through three starts. Veteran defender Omar Gonzalez, a Texas native, collected his 250th MLS start on Wednesday, playing all 90 minutes for the second straight match. Gonzalez paired up in central defense with Dave Romney, who has been on the field for every minute of the Revolution season.

For the second straight game, Matt Polster, who is three appearances away from 100 in a Revolution uniform, made the start at right outside back to account for the injured Brandon Bye. Polster's performance landed him on the MLS Team of the Matchday as he helped the Revolution to the shutout. New England's 29 goals conceded stand as tied for the fifth fewest in MLS.

As Austin FC visits Foxborough for the first time, New England aims to maintain its best home start in club history as one of only two MLS teams without a home loss, along with FC Cincinnati. The Revolution are 6-0-0 in their last six league games at Gillette Stadium, outscoring opponents a 15-4 rate in those matches with back-to-back clean sheets. Austin, now in its third season since joining MLS as an expansion side in 2021, carries a 3-8-2 away record this season. The Verde and Black, winless in their last three games, enter the weekend one point below the playoff line in the Western Conference.
