Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 11-2 on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.
Long Island took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on three consecutive two-out singles, with Frank Schwindel scoring on a fielding error. York tied the game in the second on a sacrifice fly to center field off the bat of Jacob Rhinesmith. Alex McGarry scored his first run with the Ducks in the bottom of the second on a double play ball to put the Flock back in front. However, the Revolution tied it at two in the fourth on Alfredo Reyes' two-out RBI single to right.
An opposite-field three-run home run to right field by Donovan Casey in the seventh put the Revolution on top 5-2. A four-run eighth, highlighted by a two-run double to right from Casey, pushed the gap to seven. Two more runs in the ninth rounded out the scoring.
Ducks starter Mike Montgomery did not factor into the decision but pitched five and two-thirds innings of two-run ball, allowing two hits and five walks while striking out four. Ethan Lindow (2-3) earned the win for York, tossing seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Justin Alintoff (2-1) took the loss, conceding three runs on three hits and two walks in one and one-third innings with two strikeouts.
Schwindel led the Ducks offensively with two hits and a run. Manuel Geraldo added two hits, while McGarry had a hit, two walks and a run in his Ducks debut.
