
Revolution Begins The Final Leg Of Preseason Training With 12-Day Trip To North Carolina

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution returned to training in the Dana-Farber Field House today after the club was given the weekend off, its final weekend off before the 2010 Major League Soccer season kicks off at the end of March. The Revs worked in five full training sessions last week in preparation for its final preseason training trip - to North Carolina - later this week. Once on the road later this week, the team will be stationed in Durham, N.C., practice in Cary and play three preseason games at two different venues.
NEWS & NOTES
PRESEASON GAMES FINALIZED
The Revolution will travel to North Carolina on Wednesday, March 10 for a 12-day preseason training trip during which the club will play three matches... the team will be based in Cary, N.C. and will face the Charlotte Eagles (USL-2), Duke University and the Carolina RailHawks (NASL)... for the second year in a row, the Revs will train at the RailHawks' WakeMed Soccer Park for the duration of the trip... the scrimmage against Duke that will take place on the morning of March17 is a closed-door scrimmage... the schedule of the games is as follows:
Saturday, March 13 - at Charlotte Eagles (Transamerica Field, Charlotte, N.C., 6 p.m.)
Wednesday, March 17 - Closed-door scrimmage vs. Duke University (WakeMed Soccer Park, N.C., 9:15 a.m.)
Saturday, March 20 - at Carolina RailHawks (WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary, N.C., 7 p.m.)

DESIRE, TRIALISTS TO JOIN REVS IN NORTH CAROLINA
Recently-signed midfielder Louis Joseph Niouky Desire is expected to join the team in North Carolina on Wednesday, March 10, after finalizing his Visa process in Senegal... the Revolution have also invited three trialists - Marko Perovic, Gareth Williams, and Andres Raad - to train with the team from Wednesday, March 10 - Thursday, March 18 -... all rostered players will travel to North Carolina - including Matt Reis and Taylor Twellman - well as draftees Seth Sinovic, Zak Boggs and training camp invitees Khano Smith and Tim Murray (GK, Providence).
REVS TO FACE NEW YORK/PHILLY WINNER IN OPEN CUP
As the top seed in the MLS play-in bracket for the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the Revolution will travel to play winner of the New York Red Bulls vs. Philadelphia Union play-in game... home venues for the first round of the play-in bracket were determined by coin flip on Tuesday, March 2... the No. 1 seeded Revs lost a coin toss last week and will therefore play the winner of the NYRB-PHI game on the road... the date, time and location of the game will be announced at a later time.
YOUTH TEAMS UPDATE
The Revs youth teams traveled to New York this weekend for two games each... the Revs faced Met Oval in Queens, N.Y. on Saturday and BW Gottschee in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sunday... the Under-16s split their weekend games, defeating Met Oval on 4-1 Saturday and falling to BW Gottschee 2-0 on Sunday... Diego Fagundez (Leominster, Mass.) scored twice while Devin Devoy (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Felix DeBona (Everett, Mass.) bookended the scoring on Saturday, while the Revs were shutout on Sunday to move to 2-2-0 on the season... the Under-18s swept their weekend games to move to 3-1-0 on the season, beating Met Oval 4-3 on Saturday and and BW Gottschee 2-1 on Sunday... Homero Romais (Somerville, Mass.) scored twice and Gustavo Santos (Framingham, Mass.) added two assists to lead the U18s on Saturday... Jonni Ventura (Westminster, Mass.) netted one goal and added an assist in Sunday's 2-0 win.
