York Revolution News Release

Although the defending Atlantic League Champion York Revolution has not yet clinched a berth in the 2011 Playoffs, the Revs' current mark of 53-41 and through various scenarios is in great shape to reach the post-season for a second consecutive year, and the third time in just five seasons as a franchise. The Revolution, anticipating playoff baseball at Sovereign Bank Stadium this fall, has unveiled their initial plans and timelines for purchasing playoff tickets.

As the Revolution begin their quest for a second straight championship, Andy Etchebarren, a.k.a. "The Most Interesting Manager in the World" has rolled out his rally cry of "Stay Hungry My Friends" to ensure all fans that the Revs are going all out, to win it all once again.

After finishing a game behind Lancaster for the first half Freedom Division title, two avenues are now available for York to qualify for the post-season. Either by winning the second half title, where they are locked in another close battle with Lancaster, or by qualifying as a wild card entry, should Lancaster take the second half as well. With the wild card spots being determined by overall win-loss record, the Revs current mark puts them in a solid position to qualify.

Based on where the Revolution finish, they could host anywhere between one, and six playoff games at Sovereign Bank Stadium, depending on the matchup/seedings. Therefore, the team is asking all fans who are interested in playoff tickets to save all of the following dates:

2011 Atlantic League Playoffs: Divisional Round (Best of five series)

Game 1: Wednesday, September 21

Game 2: Thursday, September 22

Game 3: Friday, September 23

Game 4: Saturday, September 24

Game 5: Sunday, September 25

2011 Atlantic League Playoffs: Championship Round (Best of five series)

Game 1: Wednesday, September 28

Game 2: Thursday, September 29

Game 3: Friday, September 30

Game 4: Saturday, October 1

Game 5: Sunday, October 2

If necessary

There are a few things we know for sure: Should York play Lancaster in the Divisional Round (not guaranteed, but likely), games 1 & 2 will be in York on 9/21 and 9/22, and games 3 - 5 will be at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster. Should York advance past the Divisional Round and to the Championship Round, and play a team from the Liberty Division (Bridgeport , Camden, Long Island or Southern Maryland), then again, games 1 & 2 will be in York on 9/28 and 9/29, with games 3 - 5 being on the road. Should a different scenario come into play, the playoff schedule will be available by visiting YorkRevolution.com. While unlikely, it is possible the Revolution could get home field advantage in one or both playoff series.

Still with us' Excellent - because playoff ticket packages are now on sale for Revolution plan holders, beginning with 10-game plans up to full-season ticket holders. The deadline for plan holders to secure their seats for all 2011 playoff games at Sovereign Bank Stadium is Wednesday, September 7. At that point all remaining seats will be released and made available for the general public to purchase. Individual playoff tickets will then go on sale Monday, September 12. Full-season ticket holders guarantee themselves their same regular season seats for the post-season, while smaller plan holders guarantee themselves as close to their normal seats as possible, but most will be in their usual seats as well. Full-season ticket holders and mini-plan holders may reserve after September 7, but at that point no such guarantees can be made after individual playoff tickets go on sale.

Revolution full-season ticket and plan holders will be receiving the necessary paperwork in the mail to reserve their seats, process payment and relay their t-shirt size. Should there be any questions, fans should contact York Revolution Director of Ticketing Cindy Burkholder in the front office at cburkholder@yorkrevolution.com, or by calling 717-801-4493. Fans will only be charged for the number of playoff games the Revolution play by the conclusion of the post-season, as few as one, and as many as six.
