(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 18, 2011) - The Long Island Ducks have announced that they will once again be teaming with Long Island Cares/Harry Chapin Food Bank to host food drives at Bethpage Ballpark for every game of the 2011 Atlantic League Playoffs. The food drives will take place during games one and two of the Liberty Division Championship Series on Wednesday, September 21 and Thursday, September 22, and if the Ducks advance, during games one and two of the Atlantic League Championship Series on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.

"The Ducks are proud to partner with Long Island Cares in the fight to end hunger on Long Island," says president and general manager Michael Pfaff. "We look forward to utilizing the ballpark as both a food collection point throughout the Ducks' road to the championship and a platform to increase awareness."

Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items such as canned fruits & vegetables, canned meats & tuna, soups, stews, chili, rice, pasta, pasta sauce, cereal and beans out to the ballpark. Fans will be able to drop off items at the designated collection barrels located on the plaza outside Bethpage Ballpark on each game day.

"We're grateful to the Long Island Ducks for their ongoing support of Long Island Cares by having these food drives, which will help us deliver additional food to the many community based pantries, soup kitchens, day care centers and other programs that rely on support from Long Island Cares to feed the children, adults and families on Long Island affected by hunger and food insecurity," says Executive Director of Long Island Cares Paule Pachter.

The Long Island Ducks are in their 12th season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark in Central Islip, N.Y. Individual game tickets are on sale now by calling 631-940-TIXX, by visiting the Bethpage Ballpark Box Office, or by logging on to www.liducks.com and clicking on the tickets icon.
