PCL1 Salt Lake Bees

Revere's Triple Not Enough to Complete Comeback

July 6, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but could not finish a comeback falling 3-2 to El Paso on Thursday night.

Taylor Ward led off the ninth with a single and was followed by a Jose Miguel Fernandez double. After a Rymer Liriano strikeout, Ben Revere tripled to left field to put the tying run 90 feet away but was thrown out on a squeeze play at the plate. Ward led Salt Lake batters with three hits, his fourth consecutive game with at least three hits, while Revere drove in multiple runs for his second consecutive game.

Osmer Morales turned in a strong start for Salt Lake giving up three hits and three walks over five shutout innings. Akeel Morris (1-3) took a hard luck loss allowing the three El P aso runs runs, but all were unearned after an error in the seventh inning. Matt Custred pitched a scoreless final two and one-third innings to keep the Bees in it.

With the loss Salt Lake has fallen two games behind El Paso for the division lead. The Bees and Chihuahuas have three games remaining in the series with fireworks coming postgame on Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are available at www.slbees.com.
