
Reveno Strong in First Outing

NEWPORT R.I. - Newport improved to 4- 4 after tonight's 7 - 4 win over the Keene SwampBats. Newport Gulls' pitcher Drew Reveno made his first league start tonight, putting in six strong innings with just two earned runs. During his time on the mound, Reveno gave up eight hits and struck out four SwampBat batters.
The Gulls took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second after a four-run output from four different batters. Their final two runs come by the way of a two RBI double hit by Jack Gethings in the seventh inning.
Keene made a comeback attempt after being down 7 - 2 in the eighth inning with a two-run blast, but still came up short by three runs.
Gethings was one of the hot Gulls players tonight, going two-for-three and racking in three RBI. Kody Hoese was perfect on the day going four-for-four and two RBI. Also putting up a strong performance was Logan Harvey who reached base two times in his three at bats.
Saturday night, the Gulls (4-4) will play at Fitch High School against the Mystic Schooners (4-1) at 6:05 p.m.
