Reno Silver Sox News Release
(Pleasanton, CA. June 20, 2006) The Golden Baseball League announced today that centerfielder Victor Hall has had his contract purchased by the New York Yankees. Hall is the fourth Reno Silver Sox player to have his contract sold to a Major League organization
"Victor is a substantial player," Silver Sox Manager Les Lancaster said. "He has a consistent bat and he's incredibly quick."
Hall, originally selected by the Diamondbacks in the 12th round of the 1998 draft, has played for two Major League organizations. Through 2005, Hall was a career .283 hitter, and he had stolen 246 bases in 749 Minor League games. Released by the Mets in 2005, the Mesa Miners signed Hall for 19 games, where he hit .369. The Silver Sox signed Hall for the 2006 season, and he quickly established himself as one of the best hitters in the league. Hall was hitting .362 through Monday's action, and had hit three home runs.
He also led the league in runs with 23 and stolen bases with 15.
"Victor is a solid addition for the Yankees organization," GBL Commissioner Kevin Outcalt said. "As the 34th player to be sold by the GBL to a Major League team, he is a testament to the quality of players in the GBL."
The Reno Silver Sox are on the road in Fullerton for a three game series through June 22nd. They return home after a series in Yuma, on Friday June 30th. Tickets, merchandise, and sponsor opportunities are all still available at www.silversoxbaseball.com.
