San Diego Surf Dawgs News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Surf Dawgs have singed Victor Roldan, a third baseman from Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University, to his first professional contract. Roldan played third base for the Dawgs during this past weekend's series in Long Beach.

Roldan, 22, spent two years at Embry Riddle and in his senior year batted .347 with 49 RBI while playing the hot corner for the Eagles. Even more impressive, Roldan only struck out eight times in 216 at bats during his senior year. The 5-11, 185-pound Roldan also was tied for the team lead in doubles with 16.

During his junior year he was named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team for his performance during the NAIA World Series (.364 batting average). Off the field, Roldan majored in aviation business administration while at Embry-Riddle

Roldan and the Surf Dawgs open up an eight-game homestand tonight at Tony Gwynn Stadium with the Chico Outlaws in town for their first visit of 2006. Aaron Wilson (1-1) takes the hill for San Diego as they look to get their homestand started off on the right food. First pitch is at 7:05 PT.
