Salt Lake Bees News Release

Luis Rengifo broke a 7-7 tie with a ninth inning RBI single to give the Salt Lake Bees an 8-7 win over the Reno Aces on Sunday.

Riley Unroe led off the ninth with an infield single. He stole second and scored when Rengifo's high hopper bounced over the first baseman and into right field. Junichi Tazawa walked the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the ninth, but induced a fly out and a game ending double play to earn his first save with Salt Lake. The Bees had built a 7-1 lead after five and one half innings, but Reno came back to tie the game with one run in the sixth, one in the seventh and four in the eighth.

Jeremy Rhoades, who surrendered the tying run, earns the win and is now 5-3 this season despite giving up his first run in fifteen appearances since the All Star break. Starter Dylan Unsworth was sharp, as he went six innings and allowed just two runs on four hits. The Bees had jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first on a leadoff homer by Rengifo, an RBI double by Jose Briceno, a dropped fly ball and a run scoring double by Alberto Triunfel. Briceno and Rengifo led Salt Lake with two hits and two runs batted in each, while Matt Thaiss added three hits, including a triple, as the Bees snap their five game losing streak.
