Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
FISHKILL, N.Y. (August 29, 2006) - The Hudson Valley Renegades today announced that a book drive will be held Monday, September 4, 2006 as part of their Reading With Renegades program. The books will benefit the Beacon School District.
The book drive is the final element of the Reading With Renegades program - a new community initiative the Renegades developed in conjunction with Barnes and Noble Booksellers.
Books must be age-appropriate for children ages five to 16. Fans who bring a new or slightly used book will receive five dollars in Rookie Bucks, which are good for food or merchandise inside the stadium.
Reading With Renegades participants will be recognized on the field at Dutchess Stadium prior to the September 4th game. Randomly selected participants will receive signed memorabilia and have a chance to meet some of the players. Additionally, the Renegades' Pitch for Kids Fund will present the Literacy Connection of Dutchess County with a donation.
The Reading With Renegades program advocates the importance of summer reading.
