Aberdeen, MD- Maiko Loyola and Brandon Rousseve each drove in two runs and starter Woods Fines tossed six strong innings as the Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds 8-2 on Tuesday night.

Loyola went 2-for-3 with a two run home run and Rousseve went 1-for-4 in support of Fines (6-3). For his part, Fines gave up one unearned runs on four hits in six innings for the win. He fanned five and walked one.

The win snapped Aberdeen 's two game winning streak and dropped the ‘Birds to 1 ½ games behind the Oneonta Tigers for the wild card. The Tigers game against Tri-City was rained out earlier Tuesday.

Aberdeen struggled early and trailed 4-0 after three innings due to a Hudson Valley rally in the third, a fielding error and a passed ball. The IronBirds struggled despite David Cash's 2-for-4 performance which included his first home run of the season in the seventh inning.

Hudson Valley took a 4-0 lead in the third inning against IronBirds starter Pedro Beato and never looked back. The rally began when Rousseve singled to center over a drawn-in infield to drive in a pair, Quinn Stewart doubled in a run with a bloop to center and later scored on a throwing error by second baseman Miguel Abreu.

Beato (2-2) gave up three earned runs on five hits in three innings. He lost for the second time in his last three decisions.

Aberdeen cut the lead to three with a run in the fourth during a rally in which they might have scored more. The IronBirds had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the fourth but Matt Pulley was tagged out at home trying to score on a wild pitch and Zach Davis struck out to end the inning.

Hudson Valley added two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to ensure the victory.

Game Notes- Aberdeen manager Andy Etchebarren emptied his bench during the game including five defensive substitutions and four pitching changes...The IronBirds travel to Oneonta, New York, to play the Tigers on Wednesday...RHP Josh Tamba (5-3, 2.97) is the scheduled starter for Aberdeen...RHP Brendan Wise (3-4, 3.27) toes the rubber for Oneonta.
