Renegades Lose to Cyclones

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - The Hudson Valley Renegades entertained a past-capacity crowd of 4,791 at Dutchess Stadium on Saturday night, as they fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones 7-5. It was the fourth past-capacity crowd of the season at The Dutch.
Brooklyn jumped out to an early lead when a two-out error by Aldenis Sanchez extended the top of the first and allowed two runs to eventually score. The Cyclones added two more in the fourth on a two-run triple from Rowdey Jordan that chased Matt Sauer from the game.
Sauer (5-2) allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits in 3.1 innings, walking two and striking out two.
The Cyclones added two runs off Kevin Milam in the top of the fifth to take a 6-0 lead, but the Renegades struck back in the bottom of the frame.
With runners on second and third, Carlos Narvaez roped a two-run double to right center to get Hudson Valley on the board. He scored three batters later on a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 6-3.
Stanley Consuegra extended Brooklyn's advantage to 7-3 in the top of the eighth with a solo home run off Ryan Miller, but the Gades made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth.
With two outs, Tyler Hardman singled and Grant Richardson blasted a 400-foot home run to right to narrow the gap to two. That was the cap on another big night for Richardson, who finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
However, Justin Courtney struck out Narvaez after the homer to end the game. With the loss, the Cyclones leapt past the Renegades in the North Division standings, and are in sole possession of first place by 0.5 games.
The Renegades complete their series with the Cyclones on Sunday afternoon at Dutchess Stadium. RHP Blane Abeyta (4-6, 4.78) takes the mound for Hudson Valley, while Brooklyn counters with RHP Junior Santos (4-10, 4.64).
