Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

WILMINGTON, Del. - A strong start from Brock Selvidge lifted the Hudson Valley Renegades to a 6-2 victory over the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Thursday night at Frawley Stadium.

In his third High-A start, Selvidge (2-0) allowed just two runs and struck out five across 7.1 innings. It was the second straight that the southpaw worked at least seven frames, and he became just the second Renegades starting pitcher outside of Drew Thorpe to pitch into the eighth inning.

The 'Gades pounded out three long balls in the win with the home run bug beginning in the fourth inning. Christopher Familia crushed a solo home run to right off Kyle Luckham (3-4) to open up the scoring.

Marcos Cabrera legged out a hustle double in the top of the fifth, and two batters later Ben Cowles walked to put runners on first and third. Agustin Ramírez followed with a three-run home run to center to extend the Renegades lead to 4-0.

Wilmington finally broke through in the sixth against Selvidge when Carter Kieboom hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 4-1. The home run snapped a 13.1 scoreless-inning streak from the 'Gades starter going dating to his High-A debut against the Brooklyn Cyclones.

The final home run for Hudson Valley came in the eighth when Grant Richardson hit a towering two-run home run to right field to pad their advantage to 6-1. The blast was Richardson's 12th home run of the season and marked his third straight game played with a round-tripper.

The Blue Rocks scored the game's final run in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI groundout from Daylen Lile that plated Cortland Lawson. Clay Aguilar stranded runners on the corners in the ninth to secure the Renegades' second victory of the series.

With the win, the Renegades find themselves above the .500 mark in the second half for the first time since they entered play on July 16. The Renegades and Blue Rocks continue their six-game series on Friday night at Frawley Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m. with coverage on the Renegades Baseball Network beginning at 6:15 p.m. RHP Drew Thorpe (10-2, 2.70) will get the ball for the Renegades, while the Blue Rocks will send RHP Bryan Caceres (0-4, 11.19) to the mound.

Renegades Record: 56-43, 17-16
