
Rendell Jackson Returns, Knights Add Local Product Hosea Laney

MACON, Ga. â The Macon Knights announced today that the team has been assigned Rendell Jackson and Hosea Laney. Jackson returns for his fourth season with the Knights. Laney, who is from Warner Robins, enters his first season with the Knights.
Jackson (6-0, 245, West Georgia) played in 27 games during three seasons with the Knights. In 2002, he rushed 23 times for 99 yards and four touchdowns, while catching six passes for 66 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he recorded 20 tackles, five tackles for a loss, two sacks, one interception, one pass breakup, two fumble recoveries and three blocked kicks. Jackson, a fullback/linebacker, was named af2's Ironman of the Week during week 6 of the 2002 season.
In Jackson's career with the Knights, he carried the ball 47 times for 152 yards and 10 touchdowns. He caught eight passes for 79 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he recorded 39 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, six pass breakups, three blocked kicks and two fumble recoveries.
Laney (6-2 200, Fort Valley State) enters his first season with the Knights after spending the 2003 season with the Charleston Swamp Foxes (af2). A native of Middle Georgia, Laney prepped at Warner Robins High School. Laney, a wide receiver/defensive back, played in 12 games for the Swamp Foxes last season recording 14 receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 31 tackles, one tackle for a loss, one interception, seven pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
While at Fort Valley State, Laney competed in football and track and field. In 1997 he was an All-Conference and All-American selection in the 110-meter hurdles.
The Knights will continue to assemble their 2004 roster by holding an open tryout this Saturday at SportsTowne. The tryout is open to the public and free to spectators. There is a $45 fee to participate in the tryout. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the tryout will start at approximately 9:30 am.
The Macon Knights â 2003 American Conference Champions â will kick off the season with a rematch of the 2003 ArenaCup as they play host to the Tulsa Talons on April 10th at 7:30 pm.
