Moncton, NB - In a battle of the Eastern and Western Division leaders, the Quebec Remparts dominated the Moncton Wildcats by a 7 - 3 margin before 6,731 at the Moncton Coliseum on Sunday. Quebec [45 - 12 - 0 - 1 (91 pts)] moved into sole possession of first place in the League overall, two points ahead on Moncton [43 - 11 - 0 - 3 (89 pts)]. Moncton has one game on hand on Quebec. Angelo Esposito (35th,PP)(36th) and Alexander Radulov (42nd,SH)(43rd,SH) scored a pair of goals each to lead the Remparts, with singles coming from Jordon Lavallee (11th,PP), Brent Aubin (50th,PP) and Nicolas Robillard (8th). Stephane Goulet (43rd,PP)(44th) paced Moncton with a pair of markers, with Martins Karsums (27th) rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats. Karsums added an assist, along with Keith Yandle, Phillippe Dupuis, Adam Pineault and Brad Marchand. Moncton outshot Quebec 34 - 30, including 12 - 7 in the second and 15 - 8 in the third, while Quebec held a 15 - 7 advantage in the opening period. Cedrick Desjardins improved to 23 - 7, while Josh Tordjman fell to 27 - 20, as he allowed five goals on 17 shots in 21:56, before being relieved by Jhase Sniderman who blocked 11 of 13 shots in the final 38:04.
Quebec was 3 for 10 on the powerplay, while Moncton was 1 for 11. The game's three stars were #1 - Alexander Radulov, #2 - Angelo Esposito and #3 - Martins Karsums. Moncton begins a three game road trip on Wednesday when they face the Drummondville Voltigeurs in a 7:30pm contest. Their next home game is Tuesday, February 28th against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in a 7 pm contest at the Moncton Coliseum.
