The Moncton Wildcats were unable to recover from a three goal outburst by the Quebec Remparts in the first period and fell to the visitors 5-2 on Thursday night in front of 4192 fans.
All three opening period goals were scored by Quebec with the man advantage. Kelsey Tessier got the first Remparts goal at 4:20, then Danick Paquette made a two goal lead at 11:58 and Marc-Oliver Vallerand with his first of two at 13:54 rounded out the first stanza.
Kirill Kabanov gave the Wildcats spark when he scored from Randy Cameron and Brandon Gormley at the 55 second mark of the second but Patrick Cusack restored the Remparts three goal margin at 8:17.
In the third, Ted Stephens narrowed the margin for Moncton at 2:35, only to have Quebec's Vallerand with his 10th of the year and second of the night put the game away for the visitors.
The Wildcats out shot Quebec 42-25, on the power play the Remparts went 3 for 5 while the Wildcats were 1 for 6.
Tessier picked up the game's first star, Ryan Bourque was second and Ted Stephens was named third star.
The Wildcats continue their home stand on Sunday afternoon at 4 when they take on the Montreal Junior.
