(Edmonton) - At tonight's CFL Awards in Ottawa, the Canadian Football League announced Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly as the CFL's Most Outstanding Player for 2017.
The Central Washington product started all 18 games for the Green and Gold and finished the regular season with the all-time Eskimos records for yards thrown (5380) and total touchdowns (42) while also setting a club record with a 108-yard touchdown pass to Vidal Hazelton in Week Six.
Reilly finished the 2017 regular season leading the CFL in yards thrown (5380) and passing touchdowns (30) while only throwing 13 interceptions on a 68.3 completion percentage. Reilly also rushed 97 times for 390 yards and 12 touchdowns - which led the CFL in rushing touchdowns. Reilly is only one of six CFL quarterbacks to post consecutive 5,000-yard passing seasons.
He earned CFL Player of the Week honours two times in Weeks 5 and 8 and CFL Player of the Month for both July and October.
Reilly is the seventh Eskimo to win the honour. Previous winners include Tracy Ham (1989), Warren Moon (1983), Tom Wilkinson (1973), George McGowan (1973), Jackie Parker (1957, 58, 60), Johnny Bright (1959), and Billy Vessels (1953).
