ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (28-14-3-4), four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, split their regular season series with the Allen Americans (33-8-2-2) following a 5-3 loss in front of a crowd of 6,837 on Wednesday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Matt White opened the scoring in the first period when he banged in Ralfs Freibergs' rebound past Riley Gill at 3:39.

Ian Schultz then snapped a shot past Daniel Spence's glove from the off-wing at 4:46 to tie the score for the Americans.

After Jeremy Yablonski was whistled for interference at 6:30, Maxim Kitsyn forced a turnover in the defensive zone and cleared the puck from inside his own blueline. The rolling puck made its way down the length of the ice and narrowly snuck between Gill's skate and the post at 7:02 for a shorthanded tally.

Kyle Follmer tied the score again for Allen when he veered around an Ontario defender at the bottom of the right circle and fired a shot past the blocker of Spence at 8:32.

The Americans gained their first lead of the night when Follmer sent a pass to Josef Fojtik, who beat Spence at 16:44.

Allen extended its lead on the power-play as Gary Steffes made his way from behind the Reign net to the right side, and sent a pass into the slot for Greger Hanson, who tipped the puck past Spence's glove at 17:19.

In the second period, Matt Register converted on the power-play for the Reign when he blasted a shot through traffic off a cross-ice feed from Dennis Brown at 9:37.

The Americans restored their two-goal lead during a five-on-three power-play in the third period, as Tyler Ludwig blasted a one-timer from Steffes into the net at 5:56 to close out the game.

Spence took the loss with 22 saves; Gill picked up the victory with 35 stops.

Three Stars:

1. ALN - Josef Fojtik

2. ALN - Gary Steffes

3. ONT - Maxim Kitsyn
