Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, defeated the Bakersfield Condors, 2-1, on Wednesday evening at Citizens Business Bank Arena before a crowd of 6,589 fans.

Center Jon Francisco netted the first goal of the night and gave the Reign a 1-0 lead over the Condors at 4:49 into the first period. Right wing Mike Howe fired off a shot that hit Bakersfield goaltender Timo Pielmeier's pads and shot back out to Francisco, who threw it into the top shelf.

After seven games back with the Reign after a season-ending injury last year kept him out of the playoffs, left wing Chris Curran recorded his first goal of the season. Curran threw the puck over Pielmeier who was sprawled out after making a previous save. Forward Michael Pelech and defenseman Andrew Martens picked up the assists on the play that extended the Reign's lead to two goals.

Reign net minder Curtis Darling held Bakersfield at zero until only 33 seconds remained in regulation, and left wing Ryan Donally finally gave the Condors their first goal of the night. Ontario held their lead and took the win with a final score of Reign 2, Condors 1.

Three stars: 1. ONT - Andrew Martens 2. ONT - Curtis Darling 3. ONT - Chris Curran
