Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, fell to the Utah Grizzlies, 7-3, Sunday in front of 5,642 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Shawn Collymore picked up where he left off last night with his fourth goal of the season at 9:58 in the first period. With the Reign on a 5-on-3 power play, Collymore fired a wrist shot past Grizzlies goalie, Jean-Phillippe Lamoureux, for the 1-0 lead.
The Grizzlies took a 3-1 lead on power play goals by Brad Snetsinger, Brett Parnham, and Tim Crowder. C.J. Stretch notched his second goal of the season to cut the Grizzlies lead to 3-2 at 16:35. Jeff Corey hurried down the right wing and centered the puck for Stretch, who snapped it past Lamoureaux. Stretch tumbled over Lamoureaux in full stride and knocked the net off its moorings. The puck was clearly the net, the goal light was on, but the refs took a few minutes to separate grappling players before officially declaring a goal. The Grizzlies added a power-play goal to close out the first period with a 4-2 lead.
The Grizzlies went up 6-2 in the second, as Parnham scored twice to register the hat trick. Beau Erickson relieved Kellen Briggs in goal for the Reign and finished out the game. Jason Fredricks added a goal for Utah and Collymore scored his second of the game for Ontario to make the final score 7-3.
Seven of the 10 goals scored on the night were power-play goals. The Reign allowed 33 shots on goal, while the Grizzlies gave up 21 shots.
Tonight's three stars were:
1) UT - Brett Parnham
2) UT - Ric Jackman
3) ONT - Shawn Collymore
