Ontario Reign News Release
Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), take on the Rockford IceHogs today at 2:00 PT at BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford, Illinois. Today is the first-ever meeting between the two teams and the first of two regular-season meetings this season.
Snapping the Skid:
The Reign earned their first-ever shootout victory (1-1 all-time) last night with a 6-5 win over the Iowa Wild in Des Moines, IA. Forward Mike Amadio scored a goal and an assist and defenseman Kurtis MacDermid added two assists. The win snapped a brief three-game winless skid (0-2-1-0).
Scouting the IceHogs:
Forward Mark McNeill leads the IceHogs with nine points (two goals, seven assists) heading into today's game. Netminder Lars Johansson is eighth in the AHL with a 2.16 goals-against average. Like the Wild last night, the IceHogs are closing a three-game in three-day set today.
Homegrown Talent:
The Ontario Reign roster features eight skaters and staff with Midwest roots. Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (Chicago, IL) and forwards Michael Mersch (Park Ridge, IL) and Sam Herr (Hinsdale, IL) will have family and friends in attendance today along with defenseman Paul LaDue (Grand Forks, ND), forwards T.J. Hensick (Howell, MI) and Jonny Brodzinski (Blane, MN) and Assistant Equipment Manager Pat Maino (Jackson, MI). Defenseman Zach Trotman (Carmel, IN) did not make the trip.
