Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- A blast off the bat of rehabbing Halo Peter Bourjos put the cherry on top of a 7-1 Inland Empire 66ers (30-28) victory over their I-10 rivals the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (27-31) Tuesday night. Inland Empire is now 7-1 on the season against the Quakes, and moves to five games back in the California League south first half race.

Inland Empire started the night hot with a three run first frame which saw Eric Stamets extend his hit streak to 11 games with a single, and Michael Snyder extend his to 13 with a two run double that scored Stamets and Angels rehab assignment Peter Bourjos. Bourjos reached base on a fielding error by the Quakes, but the play was made fast enough that a less healthy, or speedy, player may have been thrown out anyways.

The 66ers expanded their lead to 5-0 in the 3rd on Snyder's 10th home run of the season. Meanwhile on the mound Kramer Sneed posted his fourth quality start of the year on his way to his fifth victory as a member of the 66ers with seven strong innings of pitching. The left hander only allowed one run and that was on a single that got lost in the lights.

The final nail in the Quakes coffin came off the bat of one of their former stars. Bourjos, who played for Rancho when they were the Angels affiliate in 2008, smashed a drive over the left-center field wall for a home run to make it 7-1 66ers.

Inland Empire will go for the sweep Wednesday at Rancho Cucamonga with rehabbing Halo Peter Bourjos scheduled to start again for the 66ers. Inland Empire's next home game will be June 6th when the 66ers host the High Desert Mavericks for Thirsty Thursday presented by Hangar 24.
