Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Four errors and a lack of offense kept the Quakes from getting back in the win column at LoanMart Field, as Rancho dropped their fifth straight home game and their second straight overall, in a 7-1 loss to the Inland Empire 66ers on Tuesday night.
66ers' starter Kramer Sneed (5-1) was sharp, allowing just one earned run on five hits over seven innings of work.
Quakes' starter Jarret Martin saw his personal three-game winning streak stopped, as the 66ers tagged him for seven runs over 6 2/3 innings. Of the seven, only four were earned against Martin, as the Quakes' defense committed three first-inning errors, setting a rough tone for the remainder of the evening.
Inland Empire led 3-0 after one inning and then scored single runs in each of the next two innings, taking a commanding 5-0 lead after three.
The Quakes got their lone run in the fifth against Sneed, as Inland Empire center fielder Joel Capote lost a two-out pop-up off the bat of Chris O'Brien in the evening sky, allowing Chris Jacobs to score, making it 5-1.
Inland Empire got that run back in the sixth off Martin (3-6) and then added another in the seventh, as rehabbing Angels' center fielder Peter Bourjos homered, capping the scoring at 7-1.
The Quakes (27-31) will look to salvage the series-finale on Wednesday night, sending Duke Von Schamann (7-2) to the hill against 66ers right-hander Danny Reynolds (4-6).
Wednesday's series-finale will be another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, as dogs are welcome at LoanMart Field with the purchase of a $3 Pet Pass. Pet Passes are also available for free by stopping by Terra Vista Animal Hospital. Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
