
Regina Pats Head Trainer Greg Mayer Receives WHL Milestone Award

Regina, Sask. - The Western Hockey League announced today Regina Pats Head Trainer Greg Mayer has been honoured with the WHL Milestone Award. Mayer was recognized by WHL Vice President, Hockey, Richard Doerksen, in a special ceremony prior to Wednesday's game between the Regina Pats and Kootenay ICE.
The WHL Milestone Award is presented to WHL players, coaches, trainers, officials and WHL Championship teams for their outstanding achievements.
Mayer first entered the Western Hockey League in 1997 as a trainer for the Moose Jaw Warriors. After seven years with the Warriors, Mayer joined the Regina Pats where he remains as the Club's longest-serving member on its hockey operations staff. He has participated in over 1,500 WHL regular season games throughout his time with both the Warriors and Pats.
Mayer's outstanding efforts have also earned him opportunities with Hockey Canada, including in 2000 at the World Under-18 Hockey Championship, as well as 2001 and 2010 at the World Junior Championship.
