Lancaster Stormers News Release

Nate Reed fired 6 1/3 shutout innings late Sunday, pitching the Lancaster Barnstormers to a 6-0 victory over the York Revolution in the opener of a four-game series at Santander Stadium.

The win reestablished a three-game lead for the Barnstormers over York in the second half Freedom Division race.

York, which had scored 39 runs in the preceding four-game series against Southern Maryland, was unable to get any elevation off Reed. The left-hander got 13 of his first 16 outs on ground balls before finally picking up his first strikeout of the evening in the sixth inning.

No one got the ball in play again against Reed, and he exited after walking two batters in the seventh. Pete Andrelczyk kept the shutout going as he coaxed a 4-6-3 double play out of Salvador Paniagua.

Andrelczyk survived a two-out single and walk in the eighth, and Daniel Moskos fanned the side in the ninth to complete the 10th shutout of the season for the Lancaster staff.

The Barnstormers scored their first two runs off bases loaded grounders. In the first, after three singles opened the game against Logan Williamson, Zach Collier crossed the plate on a 5-4-3 double play off the bat of Mike McDade. Lancaster again loaded the bases in the fourth, and Lance Zawadzki knocked in the second run on a force out at second.

Luke Hughes opened the fifth with a homer to left. Yusuke Kajimoto made it 4-0 with an RBI single and Kent Matthes also picked up an RBI on a force out. Zawadzki capped the scoring with a homer to right in the sixth.

Chad Beck (2-1) will get the opportunity to start on Monday against fellow right-hander Matt Neil (2-6). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cellphone app, beginning at 6:15.
