SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters dropped their fourth-straight game, falling to the Somerset Patriots, 5-0 in the series opener at TD Bank Ballpark. The offense for Sugar Land accounted for just four hits and two walks as Sean Gallagher gave up five runs in the first two innings. The loss drops the Skeeters record to 11-18 in the second half and 47-52 overall.

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead on Gallager after the Skeeters starter allowed the first five base runners to reach. Nate Spears opened the home half of the first with a single to right. After a walk to Aharon Eggleston, David Vidal broke the scoring seal with an RBI double to left. Back-to-back RBI singles from Michael Burgess and Adam Donachie increased the lead to 3-0 before Gallagher recorded his first out on a fielder's choice. Robert Andino lifted a sacrifice fly to right to push the lead to 4-0.

Somerset expanded the lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the second with a two-out rally. Eggleston singled to left with two outs to keep the inning alive. A walk to Vidal moved Eggleston into scoring position before coming in to score on a single to center from Burgess to cap the scoring at 5-0.

Gallagher, along with Cory VanAllen and James Parr combined to retire 18 of the final 19 batters to close out the game. Jeff Dominguez, Travis Scott, Daryle Ward and Renny Osuna were the only Sugar Land players to record hits in the setback.
